To refurb or replace?
At one point or another, every probe will need to be refurbished or replaced due to age. Calibration failures, system not zeroing properly, or seeing elevated mercury levels could mean the system is not functioning properly. In some instances, o-rings and seals may be dry, cracked or corroded. Need assistance making a cost effective determination of whether to refurbish or replace? Our technical and field support teams can help assess the viability of your current probe. You have a few options:
Evaluation in the field. Schedule a site visit.
Send your probe to us. Request an RMA and return your probe to our factory for evaluation.

Quality Counts
When considering the purchase of a new probe, there are many factors to take into account. Artifacts due to interactions with the fly ash, ensuring a particle-free, vapor-phase sample for analysis or conversions at the stack are just a few. The 83i Inertial Fastloop Probe has been specifically designed for monitoring mercury emissions from coal-fired power plants and waste incinerators.

Maintenance is Key
A thorough, timely maintenance regimen when taking your probe offline for servicing is critical to ensuring interruption-free operation and low technician troubleshooting time. A maintenance schedule was included with your probe manual, but it can also be found in The Online Library. We’d be happy to provide a list of recommended spare parts for your analyzers and for your complete Thermo Scientific Mercury Freedom System.
